CAEPR to research agreement making between Aboriginal communities and the NSW Government

The Centre for Aboriginal Economic Policy Research (CAEPR) has been engaged to undertake a three-year project to understand how agreement making between the NSW Government and Aboriginal communities is working.

Under the NSW Government’s OCHRE strategy, there are eight Aboriginal Regional Alliances operating across the state to negotiate formal agreements with the NSW Government to create change at the regional level under an initiative called Local Decision Making. Professor Tony Dreise,  a proud descendent of the Guumilaroi and Euahlayi First Nations of north-west New South Wales and south-west Queensland, and Director of CAEPR, will lead the evaluation, working with colleagues from CAEPR, the University of Technology Sydney and the University of Newcastle.

The evaluation will be co-designed and co-produced with Aboriginal communities in five of the eight Local Decision Making sites across NSW.
